Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA) Tactile Exploration Experience

Join us for an accessible museum experience at the Honolulu Museum of Art.

 

Participants will explore selected galleries with guided descriptions and also take part in a hands-on tactile experience in the courtyard. The museum has prepared special objects focused on texture and sound that can be safely touched and explored.

 

 

What to Expect

• Small group guided gallery exploration

• Hands-on tactile experience with sound and texture-based objects

• Time in the courtyard to explore materials at your own pace

• Support from trained volunteers and museum staff

• Full experience: galleries and courtyard

• Courtyard only: tactile experience without gallery tour

 

Accessibility

• One to one trained volunteer support

• Verbal descriptions and guided navigation

• Tactile and auditory experiences

 

Food

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

• Groups will be divided for gallery visits

• The courtyard allows everyone to gather together

• Outside food is not allowed in the museum

• A café is available on site
